Thanon Khao San Road
Bangkok, Thailand
Khaosan Road or Khao San Road (Thai: ถนนข้าวสาร) is a short street in central Bangkok, Thailand. It is in the Banglamphu area of (Phra Nakhon district) about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) north of the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew.
"Khaosan" translates as "milled rice", a reminder that in former times the street was a major Bangkok rice market. In the last 20 years, however, Khaosan Road has developed into a world famous "backpacker ghetto".

Long Neck Karen Camp
Chiang Mai, Thailand
The Kayan are a sub-group of Red Karen (Karenni people), Tibeto-Burman ethnic minority of Myanmar (Burma). In the late 1980s and early 1990s due to conflict with the military regime in Myanmar, many Kayan tribes fled to the Thai border area. Among the refugee camps set up there was a Long Neck section, which became a tourist site, self-sufficient on tourist revenue and not needing financial assistance.

Thailand: Central & North
This vibrant video features Philippe Grenier's explorations across the urban and rural parts of northern and central Thailand covering Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Pai. The Pai Praya resort was, in his words, “the best place ever,” and the Royal Guesthouse in Chiang Mai was “a really cool spot to crash after a long day of traipsing across the sites.”
If you want to party in Bangkok, head to Khaosan Road, and if you want to eat delicious food, why not make it yourself at Sammy’s Organic Thai Cooking School in Chiang Mai? His favorite part on this leg of the trip was meeting with the Lahu people in the mountains of Chiang Mai. Having visited several destinations in the diverse country,
Philippe has some words of wisdom to share with visitors: While in Chiang Rai, avoid the touristy White Temple and steer clear of the Karen Long Neck Village for its exploitation of poverty-stricken tribeswomen for tourism’s sake. And while visiting Pai Canyon, be careful, it’s beautiful but quite dangerous.
